Who Are We and Why Do We Do It!
Mission Statement
Aidans Smile is dedicated to building an ADA-accessible playground where every child, regardless of ability can experience the joy of play. We strive to create safe, welcoming spaces that bring communities together and ensure all children have the chance to play.
Our Story
Aidan Michael Freeman was the second child born into our family. We are Tracy and Michael Freeman. He was born on May 9, 2013. He had an older sister Abigail, and was followed by a younger brother, Alexander in 2016. Aidan Michael lived a short life filled with love and happiness, but also illness and surgeries. He was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome which stole so much from Aidan Michael and his family, but not their love for one another or Aidans’ beautiful smile.
We made the most of his life and enjoyed him tremendously. Our family loved him to the moon and back. Aidan was nonambulatory and loved parks, amusement rides, and beaches, and he loved to laugh and play. His beautiful being left this earth on March 7, 2021.
His siblings asked to honor his memory with a playground that would include children with all disabilities, just like the ones Aidan Michael loved. They loved playing with their brother, and miss him terribly, but know a park like this would bring smiles to so many children’s faces. So, our family has set out to raise funds and build a playground in Aidan Michael’s Memory, to bring joy and laughter to children with all disabilities. It is with this love in our hearts, that we begin the journey of Aidan’s Smile.
